The Ukrainian company Temerland presented the Scorpion 2 unmanned robotic platform, which can be used in the defense and civil sectors for demining, firefighting or in the agricultural sector.
Robotic platform “Scorpion 2” has the following functionality:
- “robot carrier” for robots – satellites;
- base point for aircraft (drones);
- platform for installing an automatic turret;
- tractor for processing agricultural land
Scorpion 2 is equipped with elevators for four satellite robots. Satellites perform monitoring and repeater functions to increase the communication range between the operator and the parent unmanned robotic platform.
Elevators for satellites are mounted on the back of the platform and perform the function of lowering / raising the satellites from the platform to the ground. Elevators are controlled remotely from a portable command control panel.
“Scorpion 2”, as a base point for aircraft, is an installation, a kind of base and thrower of aircraft – drones, bionic birds – SmartBird robots. After launching from a ground platform, the drone performs its functions – providing communications, reconnaissance or strike.
The Scorpion 2 with automatic turret is a multi-functional fire support and company/battalion-level reconnaissance vehicle for perimeter protection. It provides fire support, is used to reinforce a platoon with a machine gun / grenade launcher on a mobile platform, builds a more effective line of fire when the company is actively defending if there are three or more units of this equipment.
The use of “Scorpion 2” in peacetime is a “tractor” for the cultivation of agricultural land. Thanks to its maneuverability and small dimensions, it will be indispensable for processing small fields and hard-to-reach areas. The use of electric traction instead of fuel will contribute to the economic rational use of this platform by farms.
The Scorpion 2 robotic platform control system includes two NVIDIA Jetson on-board computers for tracking the road and processing objects and interference with a neural network from all sides, and two PLC programmable controllers for controlling the movement of the robotic platform and directly controlling the turret
Capabilities of the control system “Scorpion 2”:
- Autonomous control: SMART TRACK (following the leading vehicle/object), GPS (perimeter patrolling, point-to-point movement, return “home” when the control channel is lost), without GPS (movement during REB operation).
- Remote control: locally (line of sight: gestures, voice, leash), remotely (from the operator station, from a tablet, from a quadcopter).
- Control range: 1 – 2 km.
